The first National Healthy Homes Festival took place at Druid Hill Park in Baltimore, Maryland. The Festival brought together local, state and national community partners – health, housing, and environmental organizations, local universities, lead and asthma prevention programs, city, state, and federal agencies, and individuals from Maryland and across the nation – for the sole purpose of informing and educating citizens on how to eliminate home-based hazards that can lead to devastating disease and injury. The Festival served as a model for other cities across the nation to emulate.
